PROFESSIONAL FEES

My hourly fee for 2024 is R1160 for each 50-60 minute session for individuals as well as for couples. Payment is due at the time of the session, I can accept cash or credit card payments or EFT by arrangement. Once you have paid you can submit your bill to your medical aid for reimbursement if you have funds. My rate is in line with the lowest of the local medical aid rates.

In addition to weekly appointments, I charge this amount for other professional services needed, though I will break down the hourly cost if I work for periods of less than one hour.

Other services include report writing, telephone conversations lasting longer than 10 minutes, attendance at meetings with other professionals pre-authorised, preparation of records or treatment summaries, and the time spent performing any other professional service requested of me.

MEDICAL AID REIMBURSEMENT

I am not contracted in to medical aids, and so you will need to submit your invoices to your medical aid directly should you want to be refunded. It is your responsibility to check if your medical aid covers psychotherapy. I am happy to assist with claims by accommodating your medical aids' specific claim requirements.

NOTE:

In order to set realistic treatment goals and priorities, it is important for the client to evaluate what resources are available to pay for treatment. If the client has medical aid, it will usually provide some coverage for mental health treatment. I will provide whatever assistance I can in helping the client receive the benefits to which he/she is entitled; however, the client (not the medical aid) is responsible for full payment of fees.

Some medical aid plans are often limited to short-term treatment approaches designed to work out specific problems that interfere with a person’s usual level of functioning. It may be necessary to seek approval from the medical aid provider for more therapy after a certain number of sessions. While a lot can be accomplished in short-term therapy, some clients feel that they need more services after initial medical aid benefits end.
